Incubators for Success provides young people a platform to effectively leverage their voices and become equipped with the skills to positively impact their surroundings. Working together with adults, youth-led programming provides communities an opportunity to invest in leadership development today and for the future. By implementing six prevention strategies, Leadership Development, Substance use prevention, Violence Prevention, Mental Health Promotion and suicide prevention education (using the Sources of Strength (SOS) curriculum), Youth Led programming, and Internships.
Incubators for Success will utilize evidence-based strategies for youth empowerment to meet the need for Columbus’ youth. It will allow for authentic leadership development through proven evidence-based strategies, that give young people the tools and opportunity to develop their voice and implement community change. The program will work with youth ages 14-21 and incorporate social emotional learning, youth empowerment and positive youth development frameworks into programming to build youth skills and assets, increase youth job readiness; strengthen youth relationships with parents and school, increase positive peer associations and increase their ability to contribute back to their community. These frameworks will be the backdrop against which youth are empowered to reach their full potential, strengthen their environment and transform their community.
