ArkBuilders Inc.
ArkBuilders Inc. is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to building strong, healthy, affirming communities, for its children, and their families. Central Ohio, as well as many communities around the country, is experiencing a migration of people of color into the suburbs. This migration has produced both a challenge and opportunity. ArkBuilders Inc. is a confederation of like-minded people, faith groups, community organizations, educational institutions, and social agencies united for this common purpose. We hope to “save the children” by strengthening the family and community, by building community in communities.
ArkBuilders staff has over 40 years of combined experience of working with at risk youth. ArkBuilders staff is high energy and seasoned professionals with a tremendous breadth and depth in program development. Principals George Hicks and Jason Jenkins have developed successful youth programs with the W.A.I.T. Inc., EBONY Boy’s Program, Lifeline National Basketball Inc, Ohio State University Young Scholars Program, Franklin Co. Juvenile Court, Diversion Program, SUN Program – Whitehall High School, Communities in Schools 21st Century After school programs, the YMCA/ Key Bank Keys for Success summer program, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Columbus City Schools, Afterschool All Stars, A+ Academy, Chase Academy, and School Arts Preparatory Academy. ArkBuilders staff has successfully overseen, 5.5 million dollars in grants in collaboration with the above agencies.
President
George A. Hicks III OCPC, ICPS
George has over 25 years of program development and resources. He coordinates programs both in schools and community setting. George works to identify the prevention needs of target populations. George has extensive experience working with urban youth in the Columbus, Ohio area. He is currently partnered with the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks, Maryhaven Gambling Intervention Program, and the ArkBuilders Inc, Columbus Health Department, Asian American Community Services (AACS), Lead the Way Learning Academy, and Capital University.
George served for 14 years in full-time service as a Pastoral Staff member, where he served as Outreach and Missions Coordinator. His responsibilities included small group coordinator, outreach and visitation coordinator, Bible school teacher, and short term missions’ coordinator. He accomplished far-reaching missions work in the inner City of Columbus, as well as Mexico and Bolivia. George was a pivotal player in establishing Bible Training Centers in Bolivia. Those centers helped to prepare local pastors and workers for ministry and missions. He also contributed to missions work in Puerto Rico, St. Croix and Cuba.
