ArkBuilders, Inc. is honored to present this proposal to support the Reynoldsburg Football Team Summer Leadership Experience, a dynamic youth empowerment initiative designed to build character, resilience, and leadership among young men in Central Ohio. This program blends sports, mentoring, and social-emotional learning to address the growing needs of a diverse student population, with a focus on trauma-informed care, civic awareness, and personal growth.

We aim to serve 80–100 young men in grades 7–12 through a summer camp experience that not only builds athletic ability but empowers youth to become change agents in their communities. This proposal invites partnerships to expand capacity, provide equitable access, and scale impact.

Reynoldsburg City Schools is a rapidly diversifying district in Central Ohio. As of the 2023–2024 school year:
– 80% minority enrollment and 38.7% economically disadvantaged
– 15% of students identified with disabilities under IEPs
– Poverty rate in ZIP code 43068 is 8.5%, with a median income of $70,451

These figures reflect broader national trends where families of color are moving into suburban communities, often without the corresponding supports needed to navigate new environments. For many youth, this shift means facing systemic barriers including:
– Racial disparities in academic and mental health resources
– Exposure to trauma, family instability, or community violence
– Limited access to culturally relevant mentorship

Coaches—trusted figures in students’ lives—can serve as bridges to healing, growth, and leadership.

The Summer Leadership Experience is a 6-week program rooted in social-emotional learning (SEL), positive youth development, and mentorship. Developed in collaboration with the Reynoldsburg Football Team and powered by Arkbuilders and community partners, the camp offers:
– Mentorship from coaches and trained facilitators
– Youth-led sessions and team-building activities
– SEL-based curriculum focused on: Belonging, Positive identity, Emotional competence, Growth mindset, Conflict resolution and empathy
– Civic engagement and leadership opportunities

This initiative is informed by our Chat and Chew program, a peer-supported, trauma-informed model that empowers youth to share personal stories, build trust, and develop emotional resilience.
